Comprising of vocals, guitar, violin, accordion, glockenspiel, drums, bass and piano/organ & music saw, The Spoils combine enchanting fairytales of pursuit, regret & frustration with tales of mystery, murder and the macabre.
They have released three critically acclaimed albums in addition to a self-titled European vinyl compilation through BEAST RECORDS, France.
The quintet reside in Melbourne but have been busy making pilgrimages to Europe (Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Czech Rep.) throughout the past five years where they have toured four times and garnered quite a following, securing a French record deal. Within Australia, their popularity has lead them to share the stage with the likes of Bonnie Prince Billy, Catpower, The Church, The Drones, Rowland S Howard, Mick Harvey, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Hugo Race, Richard Buckner, David McComb, Dave Graney and more plus appearances at various Australian festivals including Queenscliff Music Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Melbourne Writer’s Festival, Valley Fiesta and The Famous Spiegeltent.
THE SPOILS have also recorded their own version of “THE FOLK SINGER” released on a Johnny Cash tribute album through Beast Records (France) as well as contributing their song, “Happiness” to the German documentary, “Sole Decision”.
