Screaming Jets, The

Formed in Newcastle in 1989, The Screaming Jets have been an enduring rock entity on the Australian Music landscape for the past 30 years… 2019, saw the band celebrate their ‘Dirty Thirty’ 30th Anniversary year.

The Jets boast a long list of achievements…9 albums, 3 of which peaked in the Top 5 ARIA album charts, 8 top 40 singles, ARIA nominations, international touring, and the most played Oz rock single in Triple M Sydney’s history in the anthemic ‘Better’. The Screaming Jets may have had a sometimes controversial career early on but have always consistently delivered a high energy approach to entertaining rock audiences all over the world.

Still fronted by enigmatic lead singer Dave Gleeson and his long-time writing collaborator & brother in arms bass player Paul Woseen, The Screaming Jets became infamous early on for a series of raucous, sometimes violent, live shows. During shows to launch their debut EP ‘The Scorching Adventures Of The Screaming Jets’, fights often broke out as the band’s faithful Newcastle fans mixed with the new Sydney fans.. Fast forward to the 2020, the fights are gone but the Jets continue to deliver a rock show guaranteed to wow and delight new and old die-hard fans. From rough and ready pub rock to family friendly shows, The Jets never disappoint with their unique firebrand Oz rock. 30 years on and literally thousands of gigs later, they are considered the ‘Last Great Pub Rock band’ in Australia and playing better than ever before. High praise for the boys from Newcastle.

With original songs like ‘Better’, ‘Helping Hand’, ‘Shine On’, ‘October Grey’ and a handful of covers including Boys Next Door ‘Shivers’, Barry McGuire’s ‘Eve Of Destruction’ & Johnny Cash’s ‘Folsom Prison Blues’, the Jets are never short of a song to rouse a crowd to fever pitch.  Unlike many of their peers, the Jets have never shied away from producing new music and released the critically acclaimed and fan favourite ‘Chrome’ album which debuted in the ARIA Top 40 and produced the popular ‘Automatic Cowboy’.

In 2018, came album #9, a collection of covers, considered their ‘love letter’ to Oz Rock in their ‘Gotcha Covered’ album.. Another Top 20 ARIA debut, a collection of the bands favourite Aussie hits, curated by MMM fans from a list of artists that influenced the Jets from bands that are widely considered important contributors to the Aussie rock scene.. including Easy Beats ‘Wedding Ring’, Paul Kelly ‘Darling It Hurts’ & Goanna’s ‘Razors Edge’.

In 2020, The Jets are currently slowing down the touring schedule momentarily. The boys will perform a only handful of special shows and will look to release another original album (#10) in the second half of the year.
