ELM STREET hand-picked by one of the biggest bands in Germany, Böhse Onkelz as support

27 April 26
In one of the biggest underdog stories in Australian music, possibly ever, Melbourne heavy metal champions ELM STREET have been hand-picked by one of the biggest bands in Germany, Böhse Onkelz, to be the sole support act at their sold-out show at the Max-Morlock Stadium in Nuremberg, on 27 June 2026.
Notably, the football stadium holds 50,000 people, and the show sold out within minutes. The show will feature a 360 degree stage situated in the middle of the stadium, commonly referred to as ‘in the round’, and draws parallel to Metallica’s most recent ‘in the round’ configuration on their M72 tour across Europe and the USA.
The announcement comes fresh off ELM STREET’s tour across Germany in 1,500 – 2,000 capacity venues supporting Böhse Onkelz bassist Stephan Weidner’s solo act ‘Der W’ in March 2026. This tour has earned the ELM STREET rave reviews and a feverish fan response unseen for a support act for either Der W or the Onkelz in many years.
As a direct result, ELM STREET have been personally invited to the biggest stage of them all: In the round to a sold out stadium of 50,000 fans, supporting one of Germany’s biggest bands.
ELM STREET, comprised of 4 school friends, raised by immigrant families in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, have been riding a wave of critical acclaim for their most recent album ‘The Great Tribulation’, which has taken the band across Australia, South America, and Europe.
ELM STREET play what has been dubbed as ‘traditional heavy metal’, a style that can easily fall into the crevices of cliche, however the band have notably carved their own sound that remains fresh and distinct, whilst paying enough respect to the classic heavy metal bands that paved the way such as Metallica, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.
What makes this entire feat even more remarkable is the fact that the band are self-managed, self-funded, have limited resources, and no international booking agency. All of this has been achieved on persistence and hard work alone, pushed along by their world class music, powerful live performances and most importantly ‘people power’: the support of audiences worldwide.
Catch Elm Street live in Melbourne before they fly out to conquer a stadium, headlining the second iteration of ‘Monsters of Riff’ at the Northcote Social Club on Saturday May 16th. Proudly presented by Premier Artists.
